BIOGRAPHY


Mr Dariusz Samol was graduated from the Lemmens Institute in Leuven, Belgium, where he studied under the supervision of Ed Bogaard. He completed his Doctoral Degree study at the Academy of Music in Wroclaw, under Professor Mieczyslaw Stachura. He received habilitation degree in the same Academy in 2013.

Mr Dariusz Samol has performed concerts in Poland and abroad, including at the 13th World Saxophone Congress in Minneapolis, USA, 16th World Saxophone Congress in St. Andrews, Scotland, Contemporary Music Forum, Warsaw, Poland; Karol Szmanowski Festival, Zakopane, Poland; Witold Lutoslawski Contemporary Music Festival, Szczecin, Poland; and at the Laboratory of Contemporary Music, Warsaw, Poland. He performs solo recitals and chamber music as well as solo concert pieces with orchestra.

Being the soloist he has performed with the Pomerania Philharmonic, Lower Silesia Philharmonic, Tarnow Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Nova, the Opera Orchestra of Castle in Szczecin, Torun Symphony Orchestra, Lomza Chamber Orchestra, Baltic Neopolis Orchestra and the Olomouc Philharmonic (Czech Republic).

Many composers wrote pieces for him: Artur Cieslak, Alicja Gronau, Marek Jasinski, Jaromir Gajewski, Georg Andrix, Andreas van Zoelen, Zhong Juncheng and Say Brandon are among others.

Mr. Dariusz Samol is actively involved himself in conducting saxophone master classes and clinics in Poland and abroad including Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, Florida State University, University of Texas Pan-Am, University of Southern Mississippi, Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, Ithaca College, Bowling Green University, State University of New York (USA) and gave many concerts and master classes in China (Beijing, Nanning, Zhaoqing, Shenyang, Ningbo, Liuzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Kanton) and Europe.

Mr. Dariusz Samol is teaching saxophone and chamber ensembles at the Academy of Art in Szczecin, Poland, and serve the teaching saxophone as the Guest Professor at the Zhaoqing University, China. His students have won many competitions, including International Music Competition in Milano (Italy), Concorso Musicale Europeo Citta di Filadelfia (Italy), International Wind Competition in Ostrava (Czech Republic).

Mr. Dariusz Samol recorded two CDs with Polish saxophone music and published two books:
- „Muzyka saksofonowa w twórczosci polskich kompozytorów. Dziela wybrane”. (On history of Polish music for saxophone).
- „Muzyka saksofonowa w twórczosci kompozytorów amerykanskich polskiego pochodzenia” (On American composers with Polish roots who are writing music for saxophone).

He was awarded by Instytut Mickiewicza to the program Polish Culture Abroad (2003, 2009, 2014), and receved the Grant from The Kosciuszko Foundation from New York City (2015).

Mr. Dariusz Samol is the founder of International Saxophone Festival in Szczecin, Poland and International Festival for Winds Instruments “Etiuda.”

He is concertizing as chamber musician with the ensembles: The ArtSax Duo, Impression Saxophone Ensemble and Inventia Trio. Mr Dariusz Samol is the member of North American Saxophone Aliance.
